Principal
Lee Coleman, M.C.Ed.
Waxahachie Independent School District is proud to announce the appointment of Lee Coleman as the Principal of Alternative Learning. Coleman brings a diverse and extensive background in education, leadership development, and community engagement, along with a strong commitment to student success.
Before joining the HSoC team, Coleman served as Assistant Principal at Waxahachie High School, where he oversaw building operations and maintenance for a campus of more than 3,000 students and 300 staff members. In addition to his operational leadership, he played a key role in student and staff development initiatives, including the “WHS Tribal Council” leadership pipeline program and facilitated student leadership through the One Tribe initiative. He has also contributed at the district level as a secondary substitute training representative and a member of the District Education Improvement Committee.
Throughout his career in education, Coleman has demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering positive school culture, supporting diverse student populations, and building strong relationships with families and the community. His experience includes serving as Assistant Principal at Life School Secondary in Oak Cliff and as a classroom teacher in Waxahachie, where he specialized in Career and Technical Education, including filmmaking and photography.
In addition to his work in public education, Coleman has an extensive background in leadership, coaching, and organizational development through ministry and consulting roles. He is a Certified Gallup Clifton Strengths Coach and actively supports individuals and organizations through his coaching and consulting practice, “What’s Next Coleman?”
Lee Coleman is a relationship-driven leader who brings passion, vision, and a strong track record of developing both students and staff. I’m honored to accept the role of Principal for Alternative Learning in Waxahachie ISD. I believe deeply that connections matter—relationships truly drive results, and I look forward to building strong, meaningful partnerships with our students, staff, campuses, and families. In Alternative Learning, every student has a pathway, and it is our responsibility to help them discover it, believe in it, and walk in it with confidence. This work is about both structure and grace, because that combination is what leads to real restoration and lasting transformation. While data helps tell the story, it is people—our educators, our students, and our community—who ultimately change the story for the better. I am excited about the future of Alternative Learning in WISD and grateful to join a team that is already doing impactful work. Lee and his wife, Melanie, have been married for 30 years and have four children: Caleb (WHS ‘15), Faith (WHS ‘16), Marigrace (WHS ‘19), and Lilly (WHS ‘24).
